I am submitting this letter to the editor in support of our Sheriff, Stacy Weber. Having known Stacy most of his life, I can attest to his integrity and honesty. He has demonstrated those qualities throughout his tenure as Sheriff of our county. Weber’s effective operation of the Sheriff’s office and the County Detention Center are a testament to his ability to understand law enforcement and leadership.
His ability to understand and operate within the bounds of a budget is particularly important - especially considering the limits placed on local governments by the Iowa Legislature and governor. He has proven his proficiency in accomplishing this objective by generating funding free of property taxes to accomplish many innovative programs that further the safety and well-being of Lee County citizens. Such innovations include the K-9 drug detecting dogs and the river rescue craft that were added to the department at no cost to the taxpayer. Both programs have made our county safer and more lawful.
Sheriff Weber’s re-election for another term is not only wise for our county, it is necessary to retain the effective security of our county.
