HANCOCK COUNTY - Hamilton Chief of Police Mike Boley reports the arrest of Christopher Otto Brownlee, 39, of Keokuk, Iowa, on May 11, 2026, for two counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, each a Class 3 Felony, Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer, a Class 4 Felony and Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, a Class 4 Felony.
This arrest comes as a result of a request for assistance from the Keokuk Police Department for a vehicle they were in pursuit of that was failing to stop. The pursuit continued into Hamilton and continued throughout the city.
The vehicle that Brownlee was operating was ultimately stopped with the deployment of a tire deflation device.
Once Brownlee was taken into custody, a 9mm handgun and 9mm ammunition were located inside the vehicle.
The Hamilton Police Department was assisted in this case by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Keokuk Police Department and Hancock County State’s Attorney Bobi James.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
