Rose Mary “Rosie” Huffman, 91, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 4:37 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Kensington. She was born on October 13, 1934 in Fort Madison, IA to Thomas & Ann Ertz Hoenig. She married Rupert W. “Bob” Huffman on August 21, 1954 at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2026. Together with her husband, they founded Huffman Welding & Machine Inc. in November of 1971. What started as a one-man welding shop has grown into a manufacturing and farm store business that now employs more than 105 employees. His children & grandchildren operate the business today. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. She was an avid golfer for more than 50 years and loved to spend time at the Lake of the Ozarks with Bob. They also traveled to Arizona to visit their daughter and enjoyed playing there. It was very important to Rosie to give of her time to many Fort Madison organizations. Her family was the most important thing in her life, she always put them first and was their biggest cheerleader.
Rosie is survived by: 4-children: Mike (Roxie) Huffman of Fort Madison, IA, Debra “Debbie” (Dave) Mansheim of Yuma, AZ, Richard “Hank” (Peggy) Huffman of West Point, IA & Bob (Erica) Huffman of Fort Madison, IA; 8-grandchildren: Brooke Heckinger, Jason Huffman, Brent Mansheim, Megan Western, Ryan Mansheim, Katie Huffman, Ethan & Owen Huffman; 8-great grandchildren: Sawyer, Liam, Benjamin, Sophia, Kayleigh, Marissa, Penelope & Logan. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 2-sisters: Annie Figg & Mary Hoenig; 4-brothers: Leo, Lawrence, Donald & John Hoenig.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison with Rev. Hai Dinh officiating. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
