Sharon Kay Scott, age 84, of Fort Madison, Iowa passed away March 14, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital.

She was born in Mystic, Iowa on October 2, 1938 to Dallas F. and Geraldine Avanelle "Avie" (Kirk) Walker.  Sharon attended Moravia High School and graduated 1956.   Sharon was united in marriage to Duane H. Scott on January 22, 1975 in Carthage, IL. She spent her career working in several different office positions. She retired from the Iowa State Penitentiary in 2001 with 25 years of service.  Sharon loved her family and friends. She was a great listener and was adamant that the young people in her life were taught life skills so they would become productive adults. She didn’t give up on those who relied on her and needed assistance. She will be greatly missed by them.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Duane H. Scott,  daughter Kay (Mike) Spieler, Blakesburg, IA, son Keith (Betty) McCord, Ft. Madison, IA; step children,  Mike (Mary Beth) Scott, Montrose, IA,  Marvin Scott, Whitedeer, PA, Misty Scott, Beatrice, NE, twelve grandchildren, Nathan (Heather) Burch of Spring Hill, KS, Nicholas Burch, Burlington, IA, Krista (Matt) Fainter, Spring Hill, KS, Shawn (Kristin) McCord, Palmyra, MO, Kimber (David Cunningham) McCord, Fort Madison, IA, Kaitlyn (Joshua) Fullenkamp, West Point, IA, Karter (Emily Beary) Spieler, Ames, IA, Darlene Scott, Farmington, IA, Sharlene Scott, Fort Madison, IA, Jessica (David) Cannon, Fort Madison, IA, Noah Scott, Bellevue, IL, Josh Huckstep, Lincoln NE and 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, son James Paul McCord, brother Dallas L. “Mickey” Walker and sister Sandra Jean Wright

Friends may call after 2 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 5-6 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
