David Martinez, 73, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 8:45 PM at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 7, 1952 in Ft. Madison to Frank and Guadalupe Sandoval Martinez. David worked a full career at DuPont and Axalta and retired after thirty-seven years of service in 2013. David married Victoria Vasquez in November of 1969 and they later divorced, he then married Linda Rampy in June of 1997 in Ft. Madison.
He served in the US Army and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the LULAC and the Eagles Club. David enjoyed shooting pool, bowling and fishing. He was a sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders and the Boston Celtics. David loved traveling to Colorado and had a few special places he would continue to go to. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Martinez of Ft. Madison; his children, Shannon (Keith) Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, David Martinez Jr of Phoenix, AZ, Victor (Houmema) Martinez of Djibouti, Africa, Jaime (James) Seaney of Avondale, AZ and Emily (Luis) Valdez of Burlington, Derrick (Tami) Riley of Ft. Madison and Brooke Riley of Ft. Madison; twelve grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Gaucin of TX, Veronica Soto of Peoria, AZ, Catherine Lozano of Seattle, WA and Theresa Howard of Puyallup, WA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. Burial will be at 9 AM on Friday, December 5, 2025 at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army.
