King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Dennis H. Pollpeter, 89, Fort Madison

Dennis H. Pollpeter, 89, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 7:16 AM at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 26, 1935 in rural West Point to August and Minnie Lohman Pollpeter.  On November 24, 1956 he married Margie Belshaw in West Point, IA. Dennis was a 1954 graduate of Marquette High School.  He was a lifelong farmer and also worked at Chevron, retiring after twenty-four years of service.  He owned and operated Pollpeter Brothers, Inc. with his twin brother, Donald.  Dennis was a member of Holy Family Parish, and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed going to 34 Raceway and the Burlington Bees baseball games.  He was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeyes, ensuring an Iowa team would always win.  Most of all Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Pollpeter of Ft. Madison; five sons, Craig (Dorothy) Pollpeter of Wever, Howard (Sally) Pollpeter of Ft. Madison, Alan (Lori) Pollpeter of Ft. Madison, Thomas Pollpeter of Erlangen, Germany and Paul Pollpeter of Ft. Madison; one daughter, Ann (Roger) Baschke of Spencer, IA; seven grandchildren; three step grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter Melissa Baschke in infancy; three brothers, Ralph, Elmer and Donald and two sisters, Margie Johnson and Sister Ann Pollpeter; two nieces and one nephew.
The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM on Friday, April 4, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A rosary will be recited prior to the visitation at 4:30 PM.  The funeral mass will be at 10 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating and burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
