Donald R. Brummitt, 78, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington. He was born on June 11, 1946 in Greeley, CO to Alva Ray & Marjorie Louise Brummitt. He graduated from Trinity College in Deerfield, IL. He married Phyllis J. Bachman on May 24, 1975 in Chicago, IL. He was a safety trainer at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed music, especially choral music, traveling, reading and was a member of the Union Church in LaHarpe, IL. He was a choir director and minister of music at several churches in the area. He will forever be remembered for his hearty laugh, sense of humor and above all, his faith and trust in Christ.
Don is survived by: his wife: Phyllis Brummitt of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Eric Brummitt of Chicago, IL; 3-daughters: Jennifer (Glen) Flanagan of Beach Park, IL, Andrea (Philip) Ross of Fall River, MA & Melodie (Chad) Winders of Cincinnati, OH; 4-grandchildren: Jordan, Joshua, Matthew & Micah; 2-great grandchildren: Elsie & Addie; 2-sisters: Sharon (Rod) Moore of Jonesville, MI & Melinda Wayland of Bettendorf, IA and 1-brother: David (Laura) Brummitt of Bettendorf, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral home & Crematory with Pastor Rick Goettsche officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.
