King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Doris M. Powers, 97, Fort Madison

Doris M. Powers, 97, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 7:46 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025 at River Valley Place in Fort Madison.  She was born on May 18, 1928 in Winamac, IN to Albert & Arena Malchow Westphal.  She married Richard E. Powers on December 1, 1946 in Medaryville, IN.  He preceded her in death on December 4, 2020.  She moved to Fort Madison in 1959 and worked at Greenwald’s Supermarket in the meat department for 10 years, but most of her life was a homemaker.  She was a member of Holy Family Parish and enjoyed bowling, golf, puzzles, painting rocks, sewing and volunteered at the Lulac Club for Bingo night.  She loved helping people, especially her neighbors.
Doris is survived by: 1-daughter: Jean Ann (Dennis) Kelly of Lewisville, TX; 1-son: John (Nancy) Powers of Burlington, IA; 6-grandchildren: Dennis Jr, Erin & Brett Kelly and Chad, Brent & Chris Powers and 13-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Marilyn Powers.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A visitation will be held for both Doris & Dick Powers from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m.  Burial will be held at a later date at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, IN.  A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison Food Pantry.  Online condolences to the Powers family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
