King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Howard J. Dalrymple, 85, Fort Madison

Howard Jay Dalrymple, 85, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at The Kensington.  He was born on January 10, 1940 in Fort Madison, IA to Jay E. & Bernice V. Sharp Dalrymple.  He worked in the press room at the Daily Democrat for 43 years and previously ran a concession business with his brother, Wilbur.  He enjoyed collecting and working with old printing presses and loved to work on the farm with his cows and horses. 
Howard is survived by: 1-son: Jay (Darlene) Dalrymple of St. Jacob, IL; 4-daughters: Carmen Vancil of Salem, IA, Diana Strode of Centerville, IA, Lori Darrow of Potosi, MO & Barbara (Joe) Lake of Fort Madison, IA; 14-grandchildren, 20-great grandchildren with another one on the way, and 1-great great granddaughter with another one on the way; 1-brother: Wilbur Dalrymple of Fort Madison, IA & 1-sister: Mary Alice Woods of Fort Madison, IA.  He was preceded in death by: his parents & 2-sisters: Esther Drollinger & Velda Mae Fritzjunker.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  A visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established in his memory.  Online condolences to the Dalrymple family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.  A special word of thanks to the Kensington staff:  Thank you for your caring, kindness, and your friendship over the past 3+ years.  Howard (aka "the gentle giant")
