James Michael Janic, 46, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 7:10 PM at his home. 
 He was born on May 30, 1980 in Ft. Madison to Terry Ladd.  James worked at Pipeline Cleaners for fifteen years until it closed.  He then worked for Bates Asphalt and most recently Walmart Distribution Center.  He enjoyed going on bike rides with the kids and taking family trips.  He also enjoyed playing video games with his kids and friends and loved making homemade cakes and treats for the kids’ birthdays.  He was a self-taught mechanically inclined person and loved the sense of accomplishment after fixing vehicles.  Additionally, he enjoyed watching history documentaries and had a big heart when it came to animals, especially his Chihuahua, Molly.  James was a great listener with a wonderful sense of humor.  He always knew some unusual and interesting fact that would always make people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Lynette Cornelis of Ft. Madison; seven children Haley Janic, James Janic Jr, Jason Janic and Hayden Janic of Ft. Madison, Kayla Jordan of Austin, TX, Allison Pilkinton-Janic of Augusta and Austin Pilkinton-Janic of Keokuk; one grandson, Jeriya; his mother, Terry Ladd of Ft. Madison; two sisters, Christine Ladd of Ft. Madison and Amanda Ladd of Tennessee; two uncles, Steve and Jeff Janic of Ft. Madison and members of the Cornelis family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stephen and Myrna Janic who raised him; an uncle, Joe Janic and his father-in-law, Charles Cornelis.
The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM on Monday, September 28, 2026 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
