James W. “Jamie” Emmett, 71, of Montrose, IA, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11:15 PM at his home.
He was born on October 7, 1954 in Keokuk to Thomas and Mary Garrettson Emmett Sr. On April 9, 2005 he married Sandra Creach in Ft. Madison. Jamie was a Deputy for the Lee County Sheriff's Department and retired after thirty-four years of service. Jamie was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He loved watching their games in the garage and enjoying an adult beverage.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Emmett of Montrose; one daughter, Courtney (Jason) Gustin of Millersville, MD; four stepdaughters, Stacy (Brian) Hymes of Montrose, Dendra (Ean) Freels of Keokuk, Melanie Johnson of Ft. Madison and Jennifer Johnson of Ft. Madison; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, John (Cheryll) Emmett of Ft. Madison; sister in law, Marie Emmett of CO; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Frances Craige, Dorothy Borger, Mary Margaret Swinderman and Clara Schiller and one brother, Thomas Emmett, Jr.
