Joanne L. Schrader, 85, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 8:00 AM at her home.
She was born on September 25, 1939 in Burlington to Loren R. and Myrtle Leaverton Booten. On May 25, 1973 she married Wayne Schrader in Kansas. Joanne worked production at several industries. She and Wayne also owned and operated Haig’s Fish Market in Niota. Lastly Joanne worked at Catfish Bend Casino where she retired from. She loved going to casinos and gambling and also crocheted many afghans. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim (Todd) House of Ft. Madison; one son, Eric (Michele) Schrader of Atlanta, GA; a daughter in law, Mary Kern of Waterloo; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Lorraine Bishop of South Dakota and Laura Cox of Georgia; one brother, Loren Booten of Burlington; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Ryan Allen & Matt House; her husband; a son, Wyatt Kern ; two sisters, Frances and Shirley and one brother, Raymond.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery with Reverend John Simpson officiating. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
