Kevin “Boat” Steeples, 68, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 7:59 AM at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
He was born on September 6, 1956 in Atlantic, IA to Otis and Odetta Pottorff Steeples, Jr. On June 9, 2007 he married Beth Peitz Schneider. He worked at Dial/ConAgra and retired after thirty-six years of service. Kevin loved spending time on the river, especially boating. He was an avid sports fan and played softball, golf and enjoyed bowling. He was a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kevin also enjoyed painting in the family business with his brother.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Steeples of Ft. Madison; one brother, Kenneth (Sharman) Steeples and one sister, Betsy (Dan) Darley both of Ft. Madison; stepchildren, Stacy (Heath) Kurrle of West Burlington, Christopher (Hope Lozano) Schneider of Ft. Madison and Nicholas Schneider of North Andover, Mass; step grandchildren, Regan Garr, Kyra Garr, Rose Kurrle, Lucy Kurrle, Elijah Burk, Isiah Burk and Brody Kevin Schneider four nieces, Eva Steeples, Emily Steeples, Ashlee Darley, Amy Mahoney and one nephew, Adam Darley; eleven great nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will meet with friends from 9-11 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The memorial service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Leslie Dalstra officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
