King-Lynk Funeral Home obituary - Leon D. Wilson, 84, Fort Madison

Leon D. Wilson, 84, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 1:55 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison.  He was born on August 12, 1940 in Brooklyn, IL to Arthur Woodrow & Alta Ruth Snyder Wilson.  He married Frances M. Meitz on July 3, 1962 in Kahoka, MO.  He worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 39 years and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  After retirement, he worked at Kenny’s Roller Ranch in Burlington for 10 years.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his wife, turtle hunting with his grandson, Tom, fishing with his granddaughters, taking his grandchildren to the skating rink and quilting with his daughter, Debra.  His greatest love was spending time with his family. 
Leon is survived by: his wife: Frances Wilson of Fort Madison, IA; 3-daughters: Dee (Brad) Allen of Niota, IL, Denise Wilson of Fort Madison, IA, & Debra (fiancé Larry Zimmerman) Eastman of Fort Madison, IA; 1-son: Leon (Wanda) Wilson, Jr. of Fort Madison, IA; 5-grandchildren: Sara (John) Herr, Cody (Kaitlin) Allen, Delaney (Bryton) Hopp, Larissa (Brett White) Eastman & Devin Wilson; 7-great grandchildren and 1-sister: Billie Mosher of Fort Madison, IA.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, 1-grandson: Thomas Leon Wilson, 1-great grandson: Julian Thomas White, 3-brothers & 1-sister.
The visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Dave Poland officiating.  Burial with military rites will be at Soldiers’ Circle in Oakland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences to the Wilson family may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
