Leona Elizabeth “Betty” Vincent, 97, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 9:56 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at The Kensington. She was born on May 5, 1927 in Carthage, IL to Oliver Clone & Velva Marie Starr Kimbrough. She married Billy Vincent on October 12, 1946 in Leavenworth, KS. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2004. She worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company, J.C. Penney, and she made cakes for many people, including her daughters’ wedding cakes. She was a member of Santa Fe Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer for many years. She volunteered for the RSVP Program, was a 20-year volunteer for the Salvation Army and was a member of the IL-IA-MO Roamers Camping Club.
Betty is survived by: 3-daughters: Maurina Selby of Fort Madison, IA, Deborah Albee of Fort Madison, IA & Melinda (Doug) Blind of Fort Madison, IA; 8-grandchildren: Kimberly (Juan) Mata, Jeffrey (Catherine) Selby, Gina (Sean) Manka, Jocelyn Albee, Chenein (Ahmed) Baragheth, Ryan Blind, Seth (Jamie) Blind & Tyler (Chelsy) Blind; 11-great grandchildren; 8-step great grandchildren; 4-great great grandchildren; 2-step great great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 1-infant son: Larry Vincent, 1-son in law: Ray Selby, 2-brothers: Leo & Leon Kimbrough and 1-sister: Lois Jones.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Heather Fuger officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Fort Madison United United Methodist Church.
