Randy D. Mathes, 67 of Ft. Madison passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 10:41 PM at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison.
He was born on November 5, 1957 in Peoria, IL to Ralph and Bonnie Weaver Mathes. On April 26, 1996 he married Debra Thorne in Independence, MO. Randy worked for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1977-2017 and retired after forty years of service. He enjoyed model trains and was an avid sports fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.
Survivors include his wife, Deb Mathes of Ft. Madison; a daughter, Sylina (Chris) Barrow of Las Vegas; a son Ryan Mathes of Missouri; two step children, David Harter, Jr. and Christina Harter both of Independence, MO; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Bonny (Brad) Stuekerjuergen of West Point and a brother, Rick Mathes of Minonk, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rusty and a niece, Shalyn.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 1 PM at Brad’s Pad in West Point. Online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
