Richard D. Eaves, 78, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away at 7:45 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his home.
He was born on August 1, 1946 in Dallas City, IL to Roy and Florence Peeler Eaves. On May 23, 1986 he married Rebecca Gehle. Richard was a mechanic most of his life, working at various places in the area. He was also a commercial fisherman for many years. Richard was an avid racecar fan and enjoyed going to car races and watching NASCAR and football games. He also enjoyed helping people work on their race cars and hunting. Most of all, Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Eaves of Ft. Madison; one daughter, Tiffany (Matt) Rhoades of Ft. Madison; three sons, Richie (Nikki) Eaves of Nauvoo, Jeff (Misty) Eaves of West Point and Brad Eaves of Niota; grandchildren, Colin Eaves and Megan Newberry, Reagan and Kennedy Eaves and Greyson and Hudson Rhoades; step children, Wendy (Andy) Ivkovic of Chicago, Jeff (Tammy) Beckert of Kansas City, MO and A.J. (Lisa) Beckert of Ft. Madison; step grandchildren, Kirsten Edwards and Derek Ivkovic, Noah Beckert, Parker and Devin Beckert; one great granddaughter, Colby and one great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and five sisters.
Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Chad Savage officiating. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
