PIEPER
Richard J. “Dick” Pieper, 80, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 5:13 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at The Kensington in Fort Madison. He was born on July 25, 1944 in Fort Madison, IA to Chris B. & Mary A. Herold Pieper. He married Karen J. Chaney on July 25, 1992 in Fort Madison, IA. He worked at Anchor Metals & Gleason’s in Fort Madison in the transportation department and also did tax preparation. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Parish, the Knights of Columbus and served on several committees at the church, including the parish council. He was also involved in several community committees and the Transportation Club through his job. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and travelling when he was younger.
Dick is survived by: his wife: Karen Pieper of Fort Madison, IA; 1-daughter: Jennifer (Adam) Duff of Cameron Park, CA; 1-son: Daniel (Melissa) Scott of LaHarpe, IL; 4-grandchildren; 3-great grandchildren; 2-cousins: Anthony Hoenig of Fort Madison, IA & Kathy Kelsch of Salt Lake City, UT and several God children, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, an aunt and uncle: Leo & Adelaide Hoenig, 1-aunt: Elizabeth Friye, 2-cousins: Phillip & Stephen Hoenig.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church. The funeral mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Holy Family Parish or Quincy University.
