Sarah E. Hines, 59, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at her home.
She was born on February 12, 1966 in Marcelline, MO to Charles and Shirley Pohlpeter Black. On September 26, 1998 she married Ronald Hines, Jr. in Ft. Madison and they were together for thirty years. Sarah worked at the Hy-Vee gas station and also for the FMCSD in the kitchen and was known to many as their favorite “lunch lady”. Sarah enjoyed gardening and feeding her birds. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Hines of Ft. Madison; four daughters, Jennifer (David Baker) Mehmert of Burlington, Debbie (Korderrick Jefferson, Sr) McDowell and Staci McDowell of Ft. Madison and Melody (Ethan) Hines-Balvanz of Iowa City; eight grandkids; one sister, Sharon (Tim) Scoggins of Mt. View, MO and her mother in law, Sharon Hines of Donnellson; her beloved Corgis Shooter and Shelby and her best friends, Chanda Vincent and Faylea Augsburger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Black and her father in law, Ronald Hines, Sr.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will meet with friends from 4-6 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial has been established in her memory and online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com
