Paul Michael Burgund, 79, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
He was born on August 28, 1946 in Ft. Madison to Paul and Dorthea Bream Burgund.  Paul proudly served in the US Navy from 1964-1967.  He was deployed during the Vietnam war for eighteen months.  Paul was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, bow, arrowhead and mushroom hunt. He was a great woodworker and was great with his hands.  Paul had the gift to gab and would hold the attention of the room with one of his many humorous stories of the many adventures he had taken throughout his amazing life. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, dominoes or just hanging out watching TV.
Survivors include his son, Steve (Traci) Burgund and daughter, Cassie Burgund; two sisters, Maurine Unzel and Patty Marsh; three grandchildren, Dakota Burgund, Dylan Burgund and Jacki Schaller; three nephews, Jonathan LaValle, Warren LaValle and Phillip Eaves; two nieces, Karen LaValle and Shawna Johnson; several great nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Burgund; stepdaughter, Angel Carr and nephews Greg LaValle, Kevin LaValle and Shane Eaves.
Paul did not want any formal services at this time, a private burial will be held in Soldier’s Circle, Oakland Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.kinglynk.com.
