Donna Gregory Penrod, 75, of Fort Madison passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 1:15 PM at Birkwood Village in Ft. Madison.
She was born on June 3, 1950 in Ft. Madison to Edgar Dee and Dorothy Benge Gregory. On June 16, 1988 she married Ronnie Penrod and he passed away on April 18, 2024. Donna worked retail at various stores in the area. She also owned taverns and her beloved gift shop “Cow and Then” in Niota. Donna loved to decorate and was a self taught gifted artist. She was known for collecting numerous cow figurines as well.
Survivors include her sister, Jan (H.B.) Calvert of West Point; a niece, Terri Herbert of Ft. Madison; a nephew, Greg (Stephanie) Calvert of West Point; great nieces and nephews; several cousins including her special cousin, Kim Ferguson of Niota and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The family would like to thank the staff of Birkwood Village and Every Step Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Donna.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A joint graveside service for Donna and Ronnie will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11 AM at Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Military rites will be provided for Ronnie by the Ft. Madison Honor Guard.
