FORT MADISON - Fort Madison is gearing up for a festive and family-friendly Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday, May 3 in the Kingsley Inn Courtyard. This first-ever city-wide event will feature live music, authentic Mexican cuisine, and activities for all ages.
The celebration will run from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., with live music by The Brotherhood from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. La Fiesta Dance Troupe will perform at 4:30 p.m. with three traditional dances leading into the evening’s entertainment.
Food vendors include Garcia’s Scratch Kitchen, Denise’s Tacos, and Fort Taco, will be serving authentic Mexican cuisine throughout the day. Families can also enjoy a variety of activities, including a bounce house, balloon artist, Nerf axe throwing, cotton candy, and snow cones. Beverages will be available in the courtyard and inside at River Rocks.
To accommodate the event, 7th Street from Avenue H to the Connection Bank exit will be closed. Parking will be available at the Connection Bank lot with access from 6th Street, the Pen City parking lot on 8th and Avenue H, and along Avenue G.
The Cinco de Mayo celebration is just one of many events happening in Fort Madison that weekend. Visitors are encouraged to make a weekend of it and take advantage of other activities, including the Old Fort Open Disc Golf Tournament, the Twisted Cat Outdoors Fishing Tournament, and the Pen City Cruisers Car Show.
