Lady Hawks move to .500 on the year

Lopsided win over New London sets up trip to WB on Friday.

NEW LONDON - The Central Lee Lady Hawks won in a landslide over New London Tuesday night 52-15.
The win moves the girls to .500 on the season at 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the SEI Superconference.  The Hawks had Saturday’s game postponed coming off a 44-26 loss to Danville at home Friday night.
Kenna Sandoval had 18 points to lead Central Lee going six-of-10 from the field and six-of-nine from the free throw line. Sandoval also had 10 boards, a block, and five steals in the contest.
Lizzy Mason had nine for Central Lee on four-of-10 shooting. Sophomore Macy Doty had six in the win.
Central Lee jumped out to a 19-2 first quarter lead and then held the 0-6 Lady Tigers scoreless in the second quarter for a 35-2 lead at the half. The Hawks defense allowed just 13 second half points locking down New London and allowing Head Coach Taylor Hickey to empty the bench with a running clock.
Sandoval leads the Hawks with 67 points on the year, 11.1 points per outing.  Lizzy Mason is right behind at 10.8 points per outing. Taylor Jones has 55 points on the season at just over nine points per contest. Sandoval also has 67 rebounds on the season and 37 of those are offensive boards.
The ladies head to West Burlington Friday night for girl/boy varsity double header.
