MONTROSE - Lee County Conservation invites nature enthusiasts of all ages to join us for two special Owl Prowl Hikes, taking place in January and February. These exciting evening hikes offer a unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating lives of owls and to experience their natural habitat under the night sky.
Event Details:
• Owl Prowl Hike at Chatfield Park; Saturday, January 4, 2025 - 6:00 PM at Chatfield Park Campground
• Owl Prowl Hike at Pollmiller Park - Date: Friday, February 7, 2025 - 6:30 PM at Pollmiller Park Shelter House
Each hike will begin with a brief presentation about Iowa’s native owl species, their unique adaptations, and their importance to the local ecosystem. Participants will then head out for a guided hike where we’ll use owl calls to try and catch a glimpse—or hear the haunting hoots—of these nocturnal raptors in their natural environment.
These hikes are free of charge, but pre-registration is required. Contact LCC through email at conservation@leecountyiowa.gov or by phone (319) 463-7673 to reserve your spot today!
Join us for one—or both—of these exciting Owl Prowl Hikes and discover the magic of Iowa’s winter nights!
