MONTROSE - Lee County Conservation invites area youth and families to celebrate the end of summer with the annual Queisner Memorial Youth Fishing Derby, held on Saturday, August 2, at Pollmiller Park in West Point.
This free, family-friendly event welcomes youth ages 3 to 15 to participate in a fishing competition on Pollmiller Lake. The derby will run from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, with registration beginning at 8:30 AM at the park’s main shelter house. Awards and a free lunch will follow at 11:00 AM.
Participants will compete for trophies and exciting prizes, including awards for the largest fish caught in each age group. Every child who participates will receive a prize, and families are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear. For those who need it, fishing poles and bait will be available through Lee County Conservation.

In addition to fishing, attendees can enjoy a morning filled with games, food, and outdoor fun for all ages. While the derby is limited to children, the entire community is invited to attend and take part in the festivities.
This event is generously sponsored each year by the Queisner Family in loving memory of Jim and Bob Queisner, lifelong fishing enthusiasts.
