FORT MADISON - Lee County Health Department (LCHD) is launching the Lee County Resource Link navigation with scheduled office hours, a new service designed to help community members access essential resources and support services.
These office hours provide one-on-one assistance to individuals seeking guidance on available programs, benefits, and referrals tailored to their needs. These services are being supported by the Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program.
LCHD’s new location (5001 Avenue O), allows for a “Hub” space for the Lee County Resource Link navigation to take place. “We are excited about the Hub space with our new building because not only is it allowing for us as a health department to expand services, but we are working with other community organizations to offer a meeting place for them,” states Emily Biddenstadt, LCHD Community Health Program Director. Once additional organizations set their Hub office hours, those will be announced on the LCHD Facebook page.
Through the Lee County Resource Link navigation, participants can receive personalized referrals and connections in areas such as housing, food access, utilities, employment, transportation, medical and dental care, mental health services, substance misuse, childcare needs, and other community-based services. Trained staff will help individuals understand their options, complete applications when appropriate, and connect with trusted local partners. Resource navigation is a non-emergency assistance program and is voluntary for participants.
For January 2026, the Lee County Resource Link navigation hours will be Tuesdays from 2:00-3:00pm and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00am. There are several ways people can reach the resource navigator – first, they can visit in-person during those schedule office hours at LCHD (5001 Avenue O, Fort Madison); second, they can call 319-470-5045, the resource navigator is available during those office hours or a voicemail can be left for a call back at a different time; lastly, an online intake form can be found at leecountyiowa.gov/lchd in the “Lee County Resource Link” section. Once the resource navigator receives the online form, they will contact the participant as soon as possible or during the next open office hours.
“The goal of the Lee County Resource Link is to reduce barriers and make it easier for people to find the support they need,” adds Biddenstadt. “The resource link/Hub will offer a welcoming space where individuals can ask questions, explore options, and leave with clear next steps.”
The Lee County Resource Link is a service for Lee County residents. If other community organizations are interested in using the Hub space at LCHD, they should call 319-372-5225.
