Man convicted of county burglary, robbery dies in prison

CORALVILLE – A man convicted felony robbery and burglary charges in Lee County in 1999 has died in prison after serving 25 years of a 42-year sentence.
Michael Linn Schawitsch was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025 in a hospice room of the Iowa Medical and Classification Center. He was 61 years old at the time of his death.
Schawitsch had been serving a 42-year term for the crimes out of Lee County and his sentence began on March 7, 2000.
