Mayor throws support behind Blind - Letter to the Editor

I’ve had the honor of serving as Mayor of Fort Madison, and as I wrap up my time in office, I want to share my full support for Melinda Blind as our next Mayor.
Melinda has devoted many years to serving our community as City Clerk, working alongside several Mayors and Councils. She brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and a deep understanding of how Fort Madison operates.
What sets Melinda apart is her ability to balance professionalism with common sense — a quality that was clearly evident during her strong and thoughtful performance at the recent candidate forum. Her calm, capable approach reflects both her experience and her genuine care for our city. Melinda’s dedication extends far beyond City Hall. She is a constant presence in the community — attending events, supporting local causes, and volunteering her time to make Fort Madison stronger. She lives the values she represents: honesty, service, and a true commitment to our hometown. Melinda has raised her family here and embodies the spirit of Fort Madison.
She understands tough budgets and challenging times, having helped craft budgets alongside Mayors and Councils that faced tough cuts. Supporting sound judgment and fairness. I am confident that Melinda Blind will serve Fort Madison with integrity, dedication, and the steady leadership our City deserves. She has my complete and enthusiastic endorsement.
