Monday accident injures three

Two rescue aircraft needed to move injured

MONTROSE - An accident Monday afternoon near the Lee County Sheriff's office sent three individuals to area hospitals..
According to a release from the Lee County Sheriff's office, O 2:17 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 61 and 255th Street, just north of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Three individuals from outside the area were involved in the crash, and all three sustained injuries.
Due to the nature of the crash, Highway 61 was temporarily shut down to allow first responders to safely manage the scene, provide assistance, and allow both MedForce and Air Evac to land on the roadway. The highway was later reopened once the scene was deemed safe for travel.
