FORT MADISON - A shower at approximately 6 o'clock on Sunday night did not dampem the spirits of the crowd that came out to the final concert of the 2026 season of "Music in the Park" .
MC for the night was Brad Hart vice president of Old Settlers Association, who recognized all 27 official sponsors who made the free concert series available to the community this year. In the Fahey shelter, the Elks Lodge members were volunteering their time to serve the meal and free cake to all who attended the concert as a thank you for the crowds support this past year, and each adult received a souvenir pen as a thank you from the organization, with children receiving free balloon creations by JT Gorham.
Paul and Bonnie Wilkerson were on hand to dedicate a new bronze statue, with city manager, Laura Liegois expressing her thanks for another generous gift from their family.
"The Boys" - a new band  to the series entertained   The appreciative crowd.  And in spite of the shower, an evening of fellowship and thanksgiving was enjoyed by all.
