Glo-Crazy for Education 5k timed fun run/walk – The race starts at 8:30 p.m. on May 7, 2022. Early registration ends April 23rd, which includes a t-shirt. Two $250 shopping sprees for the respective stores will be raffled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Tickets are $5 for one or $20 for five. Proceeds go towards the Lions for service projects.

Dine out and help benefit Hancock County Fights Cancer – Enjoy a good meal & give at the same time! Rally Point Bar and Grill, 120 E. 5th Street (Rt. 61), in Bowen, will give 10 percent of the proceeds from all diners on Wednesday, May 18, to benefit Hancock County Fights Cancer.

Steak Fry Fundraiser – The Fort Madison Family YMCA and Fort Madison Rotary Club are teaming up for a Steak Fry Fundraising Event on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 beginning at 5:00pm with dinner service beginning at 5:30pm. This will include a Steak Dinner complete with Ribeye Steaks topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions, baked potato, coleslaw, rolls, and tea, water, beer or wine. Entertainment will include live music, auction, and kid-friendly activities.  Pre-ordering of tickets is highly encouraged to help with the planning of food. Creation Seminar – First Baptist Church, 301 24th St., will host a Creation Seminar Sunday, May 24. Mike Snavely will speak at the morning service and in the evening. The topic at 9 a.m. is Return to Genesis, at 10 a.m. is Lost Secrets of Ancient Civilization and at 6 p.m., God's Way or Man's Way? Is the evolutionary model reliable? Snavely, who co-founded Mission: Imperative with his wife Carrie, will   cover the evolution theory, nature issues, dinosaurs, the fossil record, ancient civilizations, the apes-to-man scenario, the Grand Canyon, as well as other items.
