Pen City Current obituary - Agnesetta Steffensmeier, 91, formerly of St. Paul

Sister Agnesetta Steffensmeier, 91, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, May 19 at the Sacred Heart Retirement home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  She was born Tecla Christina Steffensmeier on September 30, 1932 in St. Paul, IA to Frank and Adelaide Witting Steffensmeier.  She entered the School Sisters of St. Francis and was received her vows in 1953, taking the name Sister Agnesetta.  Her first mission was to St. Philomena Parish in Chicago as a homemaker.  She then went to Alvernia High School where she served in the kitchen.  Her final mission was at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport, WI where she ministered for 40 years, as a nurses' aide, serving sisters with dementia.  Sister enjoyed working in the gardens here and she enjoyed crocheting prayer shawls and baby blankets.  When the convent closed here, Sister moved to Milwaukee to Sacred Heart convent.

Sister is survived by 1 sister, Aurelia Greenig of Kansas City, MO and ten nieces and nephews, Cathy Beelman, Joe Neuweg, Tom Neuweg, Deb Sylvester, Barb Menke, Randy Menke, Teresa Young, Sherri Greenig, Cindy Long, and Billy Greenig.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Mary Neuweg and Lillian Menke, 3 brothers-in-law, Marvin Neuweg, Don Menke, and Bill Greenig, and one nephew, Joseph Menke.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, with an 11:00 mass at St. Joseph's Chappel inside the School Sisters of St. Francis, in Milwaukee, WI.  Burial will be at Mt. Oliver Cemetery, Milwaukee, WI.
