Green Acres project closes in on goal

DONNELLSON – The campaign to construct a new pool house at the Green Acres Pool continues to gain momentum thanks to the generosity of local businesses committed to investing in the future of the community.
Connection Bank recently presented a $12,000 donation to the project, while Jim Baier, Inc. contributed $10,001, bringing the campaign one step closer to providing a modern, safe, and accessible facility for generations of families to enjoy.
"We are incredibly grateful to Connection Bank and Jim Baier, Inc. for their generous support," said Jody Schulte, member of the Green Acres Pool House Fundraising Committee. "These gifts represent much more than financial contributions. They demonstrate a shared commitment to investing in a community asset that benefits children, families, and visitors throughout southeast Iowa."

The new pool house will replace the existing facility, which was built more than 50 years ago. The new building will provide a roof over the pool's restrooms and staff and equipment areas while offering protection from the weather. It will also be fully accessible and ADA compliant, creating a safer and more welcoming experience for all visitors. The Green Acres Pool also provides swim lessons for hundreds of area children annually, making it an important community resource for families throughout the region.
Community support has been the driving force behind the project, with businesses, foundations, organizations, and individual donors all helping move the campaign forward. Every contribution brings the vision of a new pool house closer to reality. "The generosity we've experienced has been truly inspiring," Schulte said. "Projects like this happen because people believe in investing in their community. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported this effort to date."
With approximately $64,000 remaining to reach the fundraising goal, the committee continues to seek community support. The Green Acres Pool House Project is operating under the Friends of the Lee County Fair, Inc. 501(c)(3) organization for tax-deductible contributions.
