Norma Lou Briscoe, 82, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her home in Keokuk.
Norma was born on April 2, 1942, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Owen and Mary (Robertson) Squires. She graduated from Keokuk Senior High in 1960, and went on to work at the Keokuk Area Hospital in the dietary department for over thirty years. On November 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Garry Briscoe at First Christian Church in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2023. Norma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, and was a former member of the Southside Boat Club and the Keokuk Yacht Club. Her life revolved around her family, and her favorite memories of her outings with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When it was nice out, she enjoyed sitting outside, enjoying the sunshine.
Norma is survived by her daughters Kelli (Steve) Rose of Keokuk and Melissa (Phillip) Shaneyfelt of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren Tiffany (Scott) Lange, Mathew (Lexie) Ritter, Brittany (Coleman) Wiseman, Whittany (JP) Flambeau, Bryce (Jenna) Rose, Katie Shaneyfelt and Kaylie Shaneyfelt; great-grandchildren Carver, Nolan and Lauren Lange, Alten Lowman, Harry Huffman, Coy Wiseman, Austin Follmuth, Khi and Calum Flambeau and Sam, Jack and Luke Rose; sister Teresa (Stephen) Price of Blue Springs, Missouri; nephew Timothy (Elizabeth) Price of Blue Springs; great nieces and nephews Isabella and Noah Price, both of Blue Springs, and Kelsea Ripley and Peyton Price, both of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters-in-law Lora (Randy) Comstock of Alta Loma, California, and Robin Briscoe of Keokuk; brothers-in-law Tim (Vicki) Briscoe of Keokuk and David Maddox of Fort Madison; and her cat Minnie.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Garry, brother Leeland Squires, granddaughter Jennifer Shaneyfelt, nephews Jamey Briscoe and Tyler Price, brothers-in-law William “Bill” Briscoe and John Briscoe, sister-in-law Betty Adams, and Karen Maddox, father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Lucille (Hoewing) Briscoe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 am to 11 am directly before the service. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm that afternoon at Frazee Cemetery in Wayland, Missouri, following a luncheon at Trinity United Methodist Church.
