Printy Funeral Home obituary - Robert E. Szawiel, 69, Keokuk

Robert (Bob) Eugene Szawiel, 69, of Keokuk, passed away at Memorial Hospital, in Carthage, IL on February 25, 2025.
A memorial service will be held on June 14, 2025, at the Cowboy Country Church of Wayland, MO, (25180 US Hwy 136 Spur). Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the Celebration of Bob’s Life at 11:00 am.
Bob was born October 18, 1955, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Feliks and Betty Jean (Meier) Szawiel. 
Bob graduated from Keokuk Senior High, Class of 1974. Bob was united in marriage to Linda Eaton on April 8, 1978. They had a very loving relationship. Over their 44 years of marriage, they enjoyed buying and selling and attended many Flea Markets and garage sales, “treasure hunting” together. They both were monthly vendors at the old “Pigeon Days” in West Burlington, IA, prior to Linda’s unexpected death on July 7, 2022.
In his working career Bob met a lot of people “by accident.” He was an Automotive Paint and Collison Repair Craftsman for almost 50 years.
Bob (Uncle Robert) will be missed by his family who will someday join him is Heaven. He is survived by his mother, Betty Szawiel, one brother, Edward (Karen) Szawiel of Keokuk, four nieces, Cynthia Stephens, Bethany Haage, Emilee (Eric) McElroy and Carly (Arjay) Vander Velden. One nephew, Harry (Amie) Whiteside, and several great nieces and nephews. Also, his uncle, Calvin Meier of Kahoka, Mo, two brother-in-laws, William (Ann) Eaton, Arthur (Danelle) Yoe and a sister- in-law, Doris (Buddy) Howard all of Keokuk.                
In addition to his wife, Bob was proceeded in death by a brother William in infancy, his father, Feliks Szawiel, his sister Barbara Wanizoski, nephew Jeffrey Szawiel, in infancy, his mother- in-law, Dorothy Yoe, his step father-in-law Claude Yoe and his Aunt Rowena Meier.
