Reader says Mohrfeld looks close at steel mill project

To the Editor:
I want to express my opinion on why I recommend Matt Mohrfeld for District 100, Iowa House of Representatives.  
As we all know, our republican representatives have surprised us with potentially building the largest steel mill in the country. And they have passed legislation to give incentives to do so.
As a resident of Lee County, I have many questions and concerns around infrastructure, housing, and economic impacts. Why a flood zone? Why a company fresh out of bankruptcy?  Just how at risk is Lee County if this fails? Just to name a few.

While we get zero transparency while our current representatives gratuitously slap each other on the back and take thumbs up photos, I’ve noticed Matt Mohrfeld’s been very busy.  Which is why I believe Matt Mohrfeld is our best choice.  While rumors and speculation run rampant, Matt Mohrfeld got to work to uncover important details. He’s connecting with people he’s worked with before as Lee Country Supervisor, Mayor of Fort Madison, and as a successful local businessman.   Matt Mohrfeld clearly understands how this will affect our community.  He’s asking the questions that we want to know and getting an understanding how this will truly impact the very people who live here, and understand how WE feel about this. Not just to hear our concerns, but to ensure that if this is going to happen, it’s done well with OUR best interests in mind - not some billion dollar corporation. 
There is only one candidate for Iowa’s House of Representatives that I trust to send to Des Moines to speak for us. It’s through witnessing his actions, his integrity, his honesty and his transparency.  Please consider voting for Matt Mohrfeld for District 100 on November 3rd.
