Editor:
I am writing to enthusiastically support Elliot Vandenburg in his pursuit of the position as Sheriff of Lee County, Iowa. I am confident Elliot will bring significant value to this department as a leader. Elliot has demonstrated all the qualities needed to be a sheriff, including the respect of his peers, honesty, integrity, and the ability to analyze the needs of this community. These are all traits a sheriff should possess. Elliot possesses the experience and educational background needed as he holds an MBA degree and is a certified, experienced law enforcement officer.
Elliot is exemplary both with a badge and without. On duty he has met every challenge with polite professional courtesy. He has the ability to collaborate with other organizations such as other law enforcement departments and fire departments. This highlights his exceptional interpersonal skills and his dedication to fostering positive relationships within his community. He is someone you can trust without hesitation.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Elliot during the time we were employed by Lee County Sheriffs Office. I got to know him as a person and a deputy when we would work together. I got to know him even more so when we attended a weeklong training together. I learned that he is genuine in who he is as man, a law enforcement officer, and as a father and husband.
In closing, Elliot is the epitome of the type of law enforcement official that should be molding our current and next generation of law enforcement officer. Elliot will get things done the right way and see to it that his deputies perform the same way. These are all reasons why Elliot should have your vote this November.
Respectfully,
Kyle Skelley,
formerly of Lee County
