This past weekend, I got up at 3:00 a.m. On purpose! The Illinois Bass Federation rolled into town for their state qualifier, and by 4:00 a.m., I was at the marina—fishing ball cap on, safety vest glowing, and smile in place—ready to welcome the anglers. Boats lined up with blinking trailer lights, waiting for passing trains and hoping to launch before sunrise. I even offered to sing the National Anthem, but they went with LeAnn Rimes instead. Their loss!
The group was fantastic, and we’re thrilled to announce that they’re coming back this fall. Mark your calendars for October 11–12, when the District 10 Illinois/Indiana TBF Semi-Finals return to our riverfront—with over 100 boats expected.
To make it all run smoothly, we’ll need a little help: Volunteers for early morning launches and afternoon weigh-ins along with locals that have side by sides or golf carts to help shuttle anglers and gear. It’s a great chance to be part of something exciting, meet anglers from across the region, and maybe hear a fish tale or two.
So if you’re an early riser—or just willing to fake it for a weekend—we’d love to have you on board. And yes, the coffee will be strong and flowing.
