HAMMA
Cynthia Marie “Cindi” Hamma, 70, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 3:24 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Cindi was born September 16, 1954 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Irma (Krogmeier) Bergmeier. On July 29, 1972, she married Walter “Wally” Hamma at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo. He survives.
Cindi was raised in the Powellton, Illinois, area and graduated from Nauvoo-Colusa High School in 1972. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including Hotel Nauvoo, the Nauvoo Mill & Bakery, cleaning homes, and helping her husband, Wally, on the farm anyway she could.
Cindi enjoyed staying busy. She loved spending time with friends and family, their weekends with their camping group and their friends they spent the last several winters with in Texas. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, raising bottle calves and especially attending her grandchildren’s events.
Besides her husband, Wally, survivors include three sons: Chad (Amy) Hamma of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cory (April) Hamma of Dallas City, Illinois, and David (Andrea) Hamma of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren: Caitlyn (Jameson) Diesburg and Joseph Hamma, Elizabeth and Logan Hamma, Kylie and Cooper Hamma; two great-grandchildren: Corey and Noah Diesburg; four sisters: Judy Bergmeier of Winter Haven, Florida, Joline (Dean) Oswald of Kewanee, Illinois, Connie Clary of Wichita, Kansas, and Jean (Terry) Jones of LaHarpe, Illinois and her beloved dog: Missy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Fr. Tony Trosley as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Nauvoo City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025 at Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
