Jay S. Pierce, 64, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born on June 18, 1961 in Mississippi, the son of Walter Hugh Jr. and Josephine Elizabeth (Holliday) Pierce.
Survivors include his father Hugh; daughter Taylor Pierce; and former spouse Karen. Also surviving are several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother; three brothers; and one sister.
Jay graduated from Nauvoo-Colusa High School, he worked as a security guard, motel maintenance, and mowed lawns. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jay enjoyed fishing and reading.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Nauvoo City Cemetery in Nauvoo.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
