Schmitz-Banks & Beals Funeral Home obituary - Lynn A. Farr, 81, Niota

Lynn A. Farr, 81, of Niota, Illinois, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Friday March 13, 2026 at Allure of Lake Storey Nursing Home in Galesburg, Illinois.
Born on June 27, 1944 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Otis Albert and Anna Lee (Ort) Farr. He married Bonnie Wolder, they were the parents of two daughters, they later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters: Brenda (Nathan Johnson) Farr, Laura (Nathan Hillyer) Farr; grandchildren: Shelby (Bret) Scott, Sheridan Lafeber; great grandson Athyn Scott; his companion for over thirty five years Frances Perry, her son Perry (Kelly) Johnson, her granddaughter Kara Johnson; sister Carol King; and nephews Brian (Teresa) King, Brad King, and Brent King. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Lynn attended Nauvoo-Colusa High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran, he later served in the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes. Lynn retired from the Local 125 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters. He operated a hobby business, Farr’s Firearms and Ammunition. Lynn was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Nauvoo. He enjoyed traveling out west for prairie dog hunting, as well as fishing and motorcycle trips. 
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 at Schmitz  - Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Nauvoo, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 
A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Sunset Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois with full military rites.
A memorial has been established in his memory for Veterans.
