DONNELLSON – Owen Swan and Brayden Wyrick each had 16 as the Central Lee boys knocked off Mediapolis 47-42 Tuesday night in Donnellson.
The Hawks continue to show a little muscle playing at home as their record improves to 7-6 in SEI Super Conference South Division play and 8-8 overall. They are 4-3 at home and have knocked off Holy Trinity Catholic and were within two points in the final five minutes in their game with West Burlington last week.
The Bulldogs were tied with the Hawks at 21 going into the second half, but Swan opened up some long-range prowess with three 3-balls and went 4-for-4 from the freethrow line in the fourth quarter to give Central Lee some space.
The Hawks' defense held the Bulldogs scoreless for four minutes to start the fourth quarter in the middle of a 14-4 run.
Carson Morrison had eight points for Central Lee and Will Hayes had seven in the win.
Central Lee hosts Van Buren County on Friday night and then entertains Keokuk on Saturday in a 2 p.m. early afternoon game.
