Dear Editor
During this holiday season, the Three Rivers Conservation Foundation, the nonprofit partner of Lee County Conservation, is extending heartfelt thanks to its generous supporters for helping preserve natural spaces, enhance local parks, and provide educational programs throughout 2025.
This past year, the Foundation’s donors and grant partners have made a tangible difference in Lee County.
Thanks to their support, Lee County Conservation has been able to complete major projects, including the new outdoor classroom at Heron Bend Conservation Area, playgrounds in county parks, upgrades at the Lee County Conservation Center, and sponsoring community events like the Egg Hunt in the Prairie, Halloween Hoot, and Bald Eagle Appreciation Days. Families, students, and outdoor enthusiasts have enjoyed improved access to nature, hands-on learning opportunities, and expanded recreational programming.
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors and community partners,” said Heather Huebner, Director of Lee County Conservation. “Their support ensures our parks and programs remain vibrant, accessible, and educational for everyone in our community.”
The Foundation would like to recognize key grant partners that helped make this work possible: the Keokuk Area Community Foundation, North Lee Community Foundation, Lee County Youth Services, Southeast Iowa Regional Riverboat Commission, and the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation. Additionally, hundreds of individual donors contributed to projects big and small, helping Lee County Conservation maintain its mission of connecting people with nature.
“Every gift, large or small, helps us protect our county’s natural resources and provide meaningful experiences for all ages,” said Agnes Koellner, President of the Three Rivers Conservation Foundation. “We are honored by the trust and generosity of our community.”
The Foundation is guided by a dedicated board of local community leaders who help ensure its work aligns with the needs of Lee County residents.
The Three Rivers Conservation Foundation encourages everyone to celebrate the season by enjoying Lee County’s parks and programs and to learn more about supporting local conservation.
