KEOKUK -  United Way of the Great River Region is celebrating a successful annual campaign, made possible by the generosity of local businesses, employees, and individual donors across the community. Funds raised will support 21 partner agencies serving Lee, Hancock, and Clark counties, advance United Way’s four priority areas of youth opportunity, financial security, health, and community resiliency, and sustain direct service programs including RSVP, VITA free tax preparation, the Back-to-School Backpack Program, and local student scholarships.
“This campaign is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together,” said Mike Greenslaugh, Executive Director of United Way of the Great River Region. “Every dollar raised represents trust in our mission and a shared commitment to strengthening our communities. Without the support of our local donors and partners, this work simply would not be possible.”
United Way extends a special thank you to Freeport-McMoRan, the organization’s largest supporter, whose combined corporate giving and employee contributions continue to make a significant impact throughout the region. Their leadership-level support plays a critical role in ensuring United Way can meet both immediate and long-term community needs.
Another special recognition goes to Two Rivers Bank, whose employees achieved 100 percent participation in employee giving during the campaign. “This level of participation speaks volumes about the culture of generosity and community commitment at Two Rivers Bank,” Greenslaugh added.
In addition to funding partner agencies, United Way of the Great River Region provides direct services that address real needs close to home. These include the RSVP program, which engages older adult volunteers; VITA, which offers free tax preparation to qualifying individuals and families; the Back-to-School Backpack Program, helping students start the school year prepared; and local scholarships that support students pursuing higher education.
United Way also thanks the many workplace campaign coordinators, volunteers, and individual donors whose efforts and generosity made this campaign a success.
“United is the Way,” said Greenslaugh. “When our community shows up like this, we are able to create lasting impact and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”
