On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Brian Mackan, age 43, passed away in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Brian was the proud father of six beloved children: Timothy (8), Brian (6), Allison (4), and Savannah (2), all of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Lillyann (13) and Luke (10), of Effingham, Kansas. His children were the center of his world and brought him immense pride and joy.
He was born on October 23, 1982, in New Jersey to Bernard Mackan and Karen Mackan.
Brian dedicated many years of service as a federal police officer at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Fort Leavenworth and Iowa Army Ammuniton Plant a role he took great pride in. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hobbies such as ham radio operation, shooting sports, and listening to classic rock and roll music. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Mackan, and his sister, Shelley Mackan Callaghan.
He is survived by his six children; his mother, Karen Mackan; and extended family and loved ones who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at Turnwater Marina at 5:00 PM on March 26, 2026.
