KEOKUK - The United Way of the Great River Region (UWGRR) is proud to announce that it has received a generous grant of $71,500 from Children First Empowerment to help strengthen food security in Lee and Van Buren counties.
This funding will be distributed among nine local food pantries that provide essential groceries and household supplies to individuals and families facing food insecurity. The support will ensure that local pantries are well-equipped to meet the growing needs of the communities they serve.
The nine food pantries receiving support include:
• Keosauqua Community Food Pantry
• Job’s Closet (Bonaparte)
• Farmington Food Pantry
• Fort Madison Food Pantry
• Mobile Food Pantry at New Testament Christian Church
• Community Action of Southeast Iowa (Keokuk location)
• Community Action of Southeast Iowa (Fort Madison location)
• Salvation Army of Lee County (Keokuk location)
• Salvation Army of Lee County (Fort Madison location)
“We are deeply grateful to Children First Empowerment for their investment in our community,” said Mike Greenslaugh, Executive Director of United Way of the Great River Region. “This grant will directly impact families across Lee and Van Buren counties by helping our local food pantries continue their essential work providing nutritious food and support to those in need.”
Funds will be used to purchase food, stock shelves, and sustain operations that keep pantry doors open to those who need them most.
Children First Empowerment partners with organizations that create long-term, community-based solutions to improve the lives of children and families. Their generous contribution enables UWGRR to continue advancing its mission to build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.
