Vandals hit FMAAA

FORT MADISON - A recent case of unexpected criminal mischief has left the Fort Madison Area Art Association (FMAAA) looking for funds to help with the damage to the Art Center.

According to a police report from the Fort Madison Police Department, the FMAAA reported on July 8 that the art center, located at 825 Avenue G in Fort Madison, was having issues with its air conditioning. After further inspection, it was determined that the unit had been damaged due to its compressor and copper tubing being removed. There are currently no suspects at this time, according to the Fort Madison Police Department.

The FMAAA said replacement costs for the air conditioning are $4,722. While repairs have already been made, the FMAAA is seeking donations to help cover the unexpected shortfall and the costs of improved security cameras that have been installed.

Anyone with information about the incident or needing more information should contact the FMAAA at vista@fortmadisonart.com or call 319-372-3996. The FMAAA has a DONATE button at the bottom of their website (home page):  fortmadisonart.com
