Dale Hamner, 83, of Keokuk, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison, IA.
He was born February 17, 1940 in Clark County, MO, the son of Henry and Ethel Bender Hamner.
Dale was united in marriage to Karen Worrell Dewey on July 3, 1976 in Kahoka MO. She survives.
He is also survived by his son, David (Lori) Hamner of Kahoka, a daughter, Deneen Hamner of Ft. Madison, stepson, Von Dewey of Keokuk, stepdaughter, Monique (Darren) Sartin, of Ames, IA, two grandsons, Gage Hamner and Trace Hamner both of Kahoka MO, three granddaughters, Chelsie Dewey of Keokuk, Bailie (Brock) Kirchner of Wyaconda, MO and Jennifer Boudreau of Keokuk, five great grandchildren, Briggs Kirchner, Beck Kirchner, Callahan Hamner, Tegan Kent and Ayden Davis, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Richard Hamner, Charles Hamner, Ralph Hamner, and Delbert Hamner, two sisters, Ruby Dewitt, and Opal Pearl.
He graduated from Kahoka High School. After high school he joined the Army National Guard and proudly served his country.
In 1998, he retired from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant after thirty-three years of employment.
Dale was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. He dedicated countless hours to the church community, actively participating in various ministries and always offering a helping hand.
Dale loved to write notes and verses from the Bible and gave them out to family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking, he made hearts and semi’s for kids at KCA and gave away lots of items that he made.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, at the New Testament Christian Church with Pastor Derek Olsen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Testament Christian Church.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
