LEE COUNTY - Holy Trinity’s volleyball team will be heading west this year in the Class 1A regional tournament.
The fifth-ranked Crusaders will play host to at least two rounds of Region 5, beginning on October 21 when they will play the winner of Moravia (12-13) and New London (1-18) in the quarterfinals.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released regional pairings for all five classes on Thursday afternoon.
Fort Madison will get a Class 4A Region 2 quarterfinal at home, where the Bloodhounds (12-13) will face Keokuk (5-19) on October 20.
Central Lee will be on the road in Class 3A Region 5. The Hawks (5-14) will play at No. 5 Solon (28-6) in an October 20 quarterfinal.
A look at the brackets for the Crusaders, Bloodhounds and Hawks:
CLASS 1A
No. 12 BCLUW (21-11) is the other ranked team in Holy Trinity’s region, and the two teams wouldn’t meet until the regional final.
The other first-round matchups on Holy Trinity’s bracket are Moulton-Udell (1-14) at Wayne (8-6) and Pekin (13-12) playing host to Seymour (2-10). The first-round matches are October 19, with the winners of those two matches playing at Wayne on October 21.
Holy Trinity will be the host of a regional semifinal on October 26.
BCLUW will get the winner of Martensdale-St. Mary’s (11-16) and Southeast Warren in the quarterfinals. The other first-round matchups are Melcher-Dallas (6-8) at North Mahaska (8-9) and Twin Cedars (9-13) at Lynnville-Sully (11-6).
The regional final will be October 28 at a site to be determined.
CLASS 3A
The Central Lee-Solon winner will face the West Liberty-Washington winner in an October 22 semifinal at Solon.
The other side of the bracket has Crestwood (6-13) at West Delaware (19-8) and Waukon (14-6) at North Fayette Valley (21-5).
The regional final will be October 27 at a site to be determined.
CLASS 4A
The Fort Madison-Keokuk winner advances to play at No. 2 Davenport Assumption (18-6) on October 22 in the semifinals.
The other side of the bracket has Oskaloosa (7-15) playing at Pella (13-17) in the quarterfinals, with the winner playing at No. 15 Bondurant-Farrar (19-12) in the semifinals.
The regional final will be October 27 at a site to be determined.
