Dear community members,
As a wife, my priority is my family. As a deputy wife, the stressors are increased with longer work hours. We knew before starting a family that the hours would be difficult and we would have to adapt. When Sheriff Weber ran for sheriff, he prided himself on being family oriented. What we didn’t know was as family members of active deputies, that Sheriff Weber meant his family or a very select few families only. Over the last eight years, my family has grown. Each time we had a child, it was apparent that my husband may get two to three shifts off to help me, then go back to the regular schedule leaving me with a newborn and other children to care for by myself.
However, Elliott has proven during his time at the sheriff’s office to stand up for family events. He has traded shifts or taken shifts in order for other deputies to get the time they need with their family. I have no doubt in my mind that when he says his department will be family oriented, he means all families employed at the sheriff’s department.
Over these last few months, the department has become even more divided. It has become apparent that it is “the good ole boys” club vs the road deputies. In fact, we have some of these “leaders” sharing false news, or sharing news that is from personnel files and affecting not only the deputy involved, but also their families. In the debate (October 15th), Sheriff Weber said there would be no change under his leadership. This is alarming as the current road lieutenants and deputies are at their wits end with how the department is currently being ran. Of course the higher ups are happy with how it’s being ran as they work Monday through Friday 8-4 with desk jobs and rarely come out on calls.
One deputy had a bad call a few months ago and Elliott, who was not working at the department at the time, gave him a call to talk about it. NO admin did. The admin also have not reached out to Deputy Oberman after his situation. It’s apparent that in order for the admin to care, you have to be an admin or a detective. The rest of the employees don’t matter.
Elliott is the guy you want to vote for. Someone who checks in after a situation.
Someone who cares about all members of the department and someone who can bring change in a positive way.
We need change and we need it now. I ask that you vote for Elliott Vandenberg Nov 5th to help the families at the sheriff’s office.
